COLOR 2023: VIVA MAGENTA

I colori sono essenziali per trasmettere un’emozione, con essi si può parlare e si possono mostrare i sentimenti più profondi senza bisogno di parole. Ogni colore scatena dentro chi lo osserva un’emozione diversa e se usati alla perfezione possono trasmettere la vera essenza dell’intera opera. L’arte del colore,il libro scritto da Johannes Itten e pubblicato nel 1961, parlava di come il colore fosse un elemento molto potente e di come in modo sottile trasmettesse sensazioni e informazioni. Ad oggi infatti si sceglie un colore invece di un altro proprio utilizzando la sua teoria dei colori. Per Itten armonia significa equilibrio, simmetria tra le forze. Ecco che nasce il disco cromatico diviso in dodici parti. Si parte dai tre colori primari: giallo, rosso, blu. Il rosso, in realtà sarebbe il magenta (che è una tonalità di rosso).

Stretto parente del carminio, del rosso cremisi o del lampone profondo, Viva Magenta,è il colore dell'anno 2023 di Pantone. Viva Magenta 18-1750 è una tonalità radicata nella natura discendente dalla famiglia dei rossi ed espressiva di un nuovo segnale di forza. Viva Magenta è un colore pulsante la cui esuberanza promuove una celebrazione gioiosa e ottimista. Il colore dell'anno di quest'anno è potente e stimolante. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta discende dalla famiglia dei rossi, e si ispira al rosso della cocciniglia, uno dei coloranti più preziosi appartenenti alla famiglia dei coloranti naturali nonché uno dei più forti e luminosi che il mondo abbia conosciuto. Pantone ha inoltre inserito il suo colore dell’anno 2023 in quattro palette distinte: aggiunge un’esplosione di colore alla palette Ignite, più discreta e tendente al neutro. Unisce l’intero spettro dei toni nude che compongono Family Ties. In Resonance, Viva Magenta invece aggiunge un tocco scenografico a tonalità ricche, per poi scivolare senza problemi nella calda palette di Equilibrium.

ILLUMINATING AND ULTIMATE GRAY - PANTONE 2021

For over 20 years, Pantone’s Color of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home furnishings, and industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design.

As every year Pantone announces the ‘it’ colour for the coming year, and this year it is: PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating. It's not the first time that Pantone choosed a mix of two colours, the colours chosen for 2016 if I remember correctly were the Rose Quarz (a light and delicate pink) and Serenity (a light blue).

But for this year a marriage of this colour conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting. Two independent colours that highlight how different elements come together to support one another, best express the mood for Pantone Color of the Year 2021. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, the union of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is one of strength and positivity.

It is a story of colour that encapsulates deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the promise of something sunny and friendly.
