LUCIANELLA CAFAGNA - RAGAZZE

Roma - Palazzo Merulana presenta RAGAZZE la mostra personale di LUCIANELLA CAFAGNA. L'artista romana lavora da vent'anni intorno al tema dell'adolescenza, concentrandosi in particolare sulla figura archetipica della fanciulla-ninfa, nella storia dell'arte come nella psicologia del profondo. Le sue caratteristiche di ambiguità, l'essere tra l'umano e il divino, tra l'infanzia e l'età adulta, la sua androgina indeterminatezza fanno di ninfa un essere che sfugge alle costrizioni e stereotipizzazioni nelle quali continuamente si cerca di chiuderla, ma anche il simbolo di quella misteriosa bellezza carica di pathos che è del transitorio, dell'impermanente. Ninfa come il fiore di ciliegio, incarnazione di quel mono no aware, di quel senso di nostalgia, che introduce nel sentimento della bellezza la profondità del tempo, il senso struggente della sua solitudine. Cafagna vuole celebrare questa figura nella sua declinazione contemporanea, dedicando le sue ragazze a tutte le nuove coraggiose Antigoni comparse sulla scena da qualche anno. Antigone è da sempre considerata il simbolo della lotta contro il potere, della ribellione solitaria e romantica contro l'ingiustizia di un tiranno. “Dalle Pussy Riot alla ragazzina che legge la costituzione davanti all'esercito russo, da Malala a Eddi la guerrigliera che è andata a difendere l'esperimento curdo dagli integralisti, da Greta, alla ragazza vissuta sugli alberi, a tutte le “capitane”. E’ una figura totalmente nuova e carica di speranza,” dice la Cafagna. Lucianella Cafagna è nata a Roma nel 1968. Ha studiato all'École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts di Parigi e ha passato un periodo d'apprendistato nello studio di Pierre Carron, pupillo di Balthus, esperienza che si è chiusa con una collettiva al Grand Palais. Nel 2011 ha partecipato alla 54˚ Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte della Biennale di Venezia all'interno del Padiglione Italia e nel 2014 ha una voce a suo nome nell'Enciclopedia Treccani, dove è annoverata tra i venti artisti contemporanei più rilevanti del panorama italiano.

MANIFACTORY FASHION STREET IN ROMA

The first coworking center was founded in San Francisco in 2005  with the idea to combine the independence of freelancing with the structure and community of a shared work space. Since then, coworking centers have spread all over the world, and a major factor that drives demand for coworking is the growing part of independent workers. Roman designers and creatives share their space in the heart of the historic center of the capital, in via dei Funari, an area that has historically hosted artisans, with names of nearby streets like Via delle Botteghe Oscure (“The Street of the Dark Workshops”) and Via dei Falegnami (“The Street of Carpenters”). This is where Manifactory is born, a new gallery of contemporary art, craftsmanship and design, conceived by Cristiana Del Bello and Paolo Molaioni, with the aim of promoting and developing small and medium-sized craft companies and emerging designers, both Italian and International. In this space young creatives have the opportunity to create, exhibit, and sell their products in an environment among designers, for interaction and sharing.
Today 25 June at 7pm, "Fashion Street" a circular moving fashion catwalk, starting from Via dei Funari 21A along the streets of the area, up to the ruins of the Portico d'Ottavia and then returning to the gallery by turning around the magnificent Tartarughe fountain in Piazza Mattei. The models will wear the creations of emerging designers, high quality tailor made clothes and accessories and will walk side by side with a musician. Then the show will become an installation inside the gallery, where it will be possible to observe closely the details of clothes and accessories, bijoux, bags, swimwear, hand-painted tshirts, ceramics and more.

Also on display are the works of the painter Olga Volha Piashko and Massimo Ripa, a goldsmith craftsman and jewelry designer. To highlight its activity Manifactory organizes events every month in collaboration with the artisans and designers present in the gallery, attracting both an Italian and International audience.
