BALENCIAGA FLAMENCO INSPIRED DRESS

Cristobal Balenciaga was born on January 12, 1895 in Guetara (a Basque province of Guipúzcoa). In 1937, due to the disturbing events of the Spanish Civil War, Balenciaga left his country and moved to Paris, a city that he was already familiar with as he often visited France on his fabric buying trips. Balenciaga quickly became successful and it helped that the designer already had an established clientele, many of them also Spaniards living in Paris. Balenciaga always looked to Spain for inspiration. Among the most breath-taking garments by Christobal Balenciaga are the one’s inspired by Spain’s two favorite past-times, dancing and bullfighting. His heart never left Spain. For Summer 2022 Demna Gvasalia take inspiration to Flamenco Inspired Evening Dress, from 1951 photographed by Henry Clark. There is always an inspiration to start from.

WEDDING DRESS: CARDIN vs BALENCIAGA

Christobal Balenciaga spent his life refining the construction of his creations and introducing extraordinary innovations that allowed him to gradually evolve towards simpler, purer forms. Pierre Cardin prefers geometric shapes and motifs, often ignoring the female form. He's known for his avant-garde style and his Space Age designs.
Both wedding dresses by the designers have a triangoular shape, and appear almost similar. I love them both.
