sometimes it's nice to hear it again
"God's Gonna Cut You Down", also known as "Run On" and "Run On for a Long Time", is a traditional folk song from the jubilee tradition which has been recorded by numerous artists representing a variety of genres. The song has, over time, been modified to fit the boundaries of diverse genres like country, folk, gospel and techno. The most beautifoul versions for me: Johnny Cash's version, maybe my favoritre, the most intimate and best reflects the meaning of the text. Elvis's version is more ironic and it's closer to a gospel/rock..amazing! (The king) Moby's version "Run On" as the second single from his studio album Play (1999) blues, folk, Trip hop, electronica, it's a mix of house music and instrumental music. last but not least the soul version by Odetta..of course!
