CONG TRI: FROM VIETNAM TO THE NYFW

Cong Tri recently debuted at New York Fashion Week with his Fall-Winter 2019 Collection.
Nguyen Cong Tri was born in 1978 in Da Nang, Vietnam. Graduated with a bachelor degree in industrial design, he marked his step into fashion industry with a sequence of recognitions from renowned awards: New Idea of Vietnam Collection Grand Prix 2000; Bay FM Award of Asia Collection in Makuhari, Japan; second runner-up of Asia Fashion Collection in Singapore 2001. Throughout his devoting 10 years in fashion industry, Cong Tri, under his eponymous brands, has incessantly showcased his collections (named No.1 to No.10) in significant fashion events such as Vietnamese International Fashion Week and Tokyo Fashion Week. In 2014, he was the first Vietnamese member acknowledged by Asia Couture Federation.  Following this, he began to work with singers and celebrities in Vietnam, styling their photo-shoots and constructing signature looks. As this venture grew, he launched the ready to wear brand Kin by Cong Tri in 2009, and KinConcept, his menswear line, in 2011. Nguyen Cong Tri personally teaches his growing atelier to create his designs from laboriously-sourced fabrics, producing fashion-forward designs that are infused with tradition. His signature aesthetic and keen eye for detail combines progressive and hand-made techniques, resulting in collections which feature laser cutting, interlacing, hand-ironed pleating, knitting and hand painting. As his brand developed his creations became increasingly avant-garde, as he moved to the forefront of the Vietnamese Haute Couture industry. In 2013 he became the first Vietnamese designer to launch a dedicated house of Haute Couture. Nguyen Cong Tri’s hand-made garments are easily identifiable due to their traditional identity, imbued with an international contemporary spirit. He inspires and mentors emerging designers to follow his lead and establish a viable fashion industry in Vietnam.
Cong Tri Nguyen is globally recognized by fashion and lifestyle publications with an influential celebrity coverage.

NEW LABELS:PH5

PH5 is an advanced contemporary women’s knitwear brand founded by Wei Lin, the daughter of a large knitwear manufacturer, and created by a Parsons-trained, award-winning designer, Mijia Zhang.
Established in New York in 2014, the label challenges the conventional vision of knitwear by marrying whimsical designs with architectural dimensions of knitting techniques. Designer Mijia has a particular interest in innovative, high tech textiles and technical developments. After winning the Kering Empowering Imagination award in 2014, Mijia apprenticed with British designer Christopher Kane before joining Nike as a color designer for footwear. In 2015, Mijia became the creative director for PH5. Mijia’s design aesthetic is colorful and futuristic with a playful twist. Ms. Lin's mother runs the factory in Dongguan, China, where all the PH5 garments are made. But Ms. Lin said. "He is moving from" Made in Asia "to" Designed by Asians ".
