NICOLE LEON BAGS

“To draw a bag means generating sensations and not only the visual one. When moving, the bag and the body who wears it become an only thing. The core is the contrast, the interaction between elements under construction with materials and colours in opposition and in harmony. Then there is a passion for details and a research of exclusive finishes that highlight the skilled Italian manufacture. Nicole Leonardi (aka Nicole Leòn) was born in Milan in 1984. She graduated in Design for Fashion at the Polytechnic University of Milan with a thesis on multifunctional leather bags. She has been selected to participate to the Worldwide Fashion Design Student Competition in Qingdao, in the province of Beijing, together with students of the most famous Universities of design worldwide. Since 2006 she collaborates as designer and leather product developer for brands like Marni and Colombo Via della Spiga. Since 2014 she teaches Accessory Design at IED in Florence and at ACOF Moda of Milan and she works as a stylist consultant in the performing art area.
Each bag of the “Studio 5” S/S 20 is dedicated to a famous film. The bags are interpreted as film characters, each one has a specific character and a unique identity. Classic calfskin in two versions, grained or smooth, is the main material. With the intense tones of red and turquoise and with the contrast between white and black we celebrate the strength of colours on bags whose structure is minimal and functional. The idea is that each bag is a small painting thanks to the reptile coloured inserts, abstract printings and intertwining of straw and Mediterranean nuances. Practicality is essential and for its casual lines, it becomes transformability. The protagonists are bags with functional structures and multiple compartments, eccentrics for their mix of materials and colours, distinguishing feature of the brand.
The Brand Nicole Leòn x Massimo Di Franco was born at the beginning of 2019 and it is the result of the collaboration between the designer Nicole Leòn and Massimo Di Franco, producer and distributor.

NEW DESIGNERS: DEMOBAZA

Created by Bulgarian designers Demo and Tono, Demobaza was founded in 2008, this futuristic deconstruction clothes and econstructed uniform, the collections are one off and limited edition. They started from S/S12 collection, they always love to make clothes by theirhands, not ordinary construction, with no shape and patterns. Their base is the uniform, built from trashy and bad looking-made elements, the concrete, the forest and the socialistic spirit. Demo concept of a fashion brand that I liked a lot, I like the minimalist design in line with their unique style. The colors they use represent the new and cleansed earth, a post apocalyptic utopian mindset where the natural state is happiness. Primary font is the style of the new, enhanced bio-tech world, and the secondary font depicts the past, the fake they left behind. Finally something new.

NEW DESIGNERS: BRAIN&BEAST

Brain&Beast was born in 2010 founded by Ángel Vilda. His collections reflect on games, riddles, hieroglyphics of apparent structural simplicity, that respond to complex geometrical equations in which color and materials form parts of codes where nothing is random. Brain&Beast proposes mixing garments which combine emotion and reason, with a very strong influence from contemporary culture without leaving out oodles of sophistication and a serious sense of humor. With the "Eclipse" collection he wins the 080 Barcelona Fest, a competition that rewards the Made in Spain new talents.
Eclipse closes a series of three, in which the designer has dived to the bottom of his own memory to clean up the sediment and transform the murky into crystalline. / Trilogy / (Playback, Vol. I / about helplessness; Labyrinth, Vol. II / on melancholy and loss) concludes as a cathartic experience that flows from darkness to light, opening up to an uncertain but calm future, after the storm.
