TEREZA CERMAKOVA JEWELLERY

Interview with Tereza Cermakova, jewelry designer:
T.C. - My way to the jewellery world was not very direct. After high school in the Czech Republic, I had a great desire. To travel. I spent many years travelling in and out of Europe. Duriny those years I did all kind of different jobs. When it was finaly time to study, I chose the Academy of Costume And Fashion in Rome, where I studied jewellery design. One of my teachers was Claudia Franchi, master goldsmith, who designed and made the ring of Pope Benedikt XVI. I think that studying and liviny in Italy, has influenced not only my work and views on design and fashion , but also my mentality. Italy has become my second home, and that is also why I returned back to Italy, after some years I spent in Prague.

T.C. - My ideas and inspiration derive from my childhood which I spent in beautiful countryside; being surrounded and deeply connected with nature. Also from my years of world travels; encounters of my imaginative life; and my daily observations of things around me. Creativity is a long and emotional process for me. Therefore an idea for every piece of my jewellery I make comes deep down from withing a soul-searching proccess that is hard to describe or to get to know but that has proven to be a great way of translating my deep visions and sensations into reality. I work with the lost wax technique using silver in combination with perspex, which allows me to produce very fluent and organic jewellery pieces. When I wear my jewellery, I feel that every single piece has its own special energy and it becomes slowly a part of my body, my spirit and my soul.
