Luisa Casati, was an Italian noblewoman, muse, and patroness of the arts in early 20th-century Europe known for her eccentricities.
In 1910, Casati took up residence at the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, on Grand Canal in Venice (now the home of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection). Her soirées there would become legendary. Casati collected a menagerie of exotic animals, and patronized fashion designers such as Fortuny and Poiret.
She inspired fashion designers such as John Galliano that based his Spring/Summer 1998 Christian Dior collection, Alexander McQueen with Spring/Summer 2007 collection and Karl Lagerfeld debuted his 2010 Cruise-wear collection on the Lido in Venice inspired by her.

Nel 1910 acquistò a Venezia l'abbandonato palazzo Venier dei Leoni, oggi sede della fondazione e museo Peggy Guggenheim. Questo palazzo con ampi giardini fu la sua residenza fino al 1924. In questi giardini Luisa Casati accolse pavoni,corvi albini, e ghepardi. Lì si tenevano feste ed appuntamenti mondani, frequentata anche da fashion designer come Fortuny e Paul Poiret.
Ha ispirato stilisti come John Galliano che basò la sua collezione Primavera /Estate 1998 per Dior, Alexander McQueen con la sua collezione Primavera /Estate 2007 e Karl Lagerfeld ha debuttato con la sua Cruise collection 2010 al Lido di Venezia ispirata a lei.
