MODA ADLIB IBIZA -S/S2018

The story of Moda Adlib has its roots in the traditional garments of Ibiza’s local population. Hence, straw hats, espadrilles and women’s shawls all stake claims to the style’s inspiration. In 1971, the first Ibiza Fashion Week was the backdrop against which droves of recently-arrived hippies, channeling the inherent delicacy of naturally coarse artisan materials, went wild for traditional island wear. The multiculturalism of an island that teemed with artists and globetrotting visitors filtered into homegrown fashion and traditional island apparel, the latter becoming ever lighter and shapeshifting to absorb newly emerging trends…eventually creating a space for Moda Adlib. For more than 45 summers, Pasarela Adlib has won over locals, tourists and travellers from all corners of the globe with its fusion of hippie chic, its respect for natural curves and—crucially—its wearability. The whole lot is distilled into one timeless style under the banner “wear what you want, but do it with style”.

SUPERMARKET BAG REVOLUTION

Foal leather, python, giraffe, zebra and crocodile ... I didn't go to the zoo, but I went to the  Posto Showroom in Via Virginio Vespigniani in Rome. Last Saturday, inside the Posto Showroom, I was between card-readers and craftsmen who cut and sew animal leather.  There were displays of many bags by the young brand Supermarket Bag created by Giulia Venturi. Urban chic totes bags whose silhouettes are versatile and refined, made unique by a touch of irony and originality. The fringes, one of the distinctive elements of Supermarket Bag, are applied on the front or sides of the bag with eccentricity and a subtle bohemian style. The handles is another strong feature of the bags, with elements of gold and silver variants, bamboo, and colorful shoulder straps. The manufactured of each bags range from brushed, scaled, and long haired leather. Mini and maxi clutches are embroidered with small studs and leather ruffles. Each individual bag is designed uniquely for a glamorous, simple, everyday use.

Cavallino, pitone, giraffa, zebra e coccodrillo... non ho fatto un giro allo zoo, ma da Posto Showroom Via Virginio Vespigniani a Roma, dove sabato scorso tra cartomanti e artigiani che tagliavano e cucivano pelli, erano esposte le borse del giovane brand Supermarket Bag creato da Giulia Venturi. Shoppers urban chic le cui silhouette divengono versatili e raffinate, rese uniche da tocchi d’ironia ed originalità. Le frange, uno degli elementi distintivi di Supermarket Bag, vengono applicate a cascata sul fronte o sui lati della borsa con eccentricità e una sottile vena bohémien. I manici, altro punto forte del prodotto, si declinano in originali style da mixare: metal in varianti oro ed argento, pelle spazzolata o squamata con fibbie. Morbide borse a pelo lungo con tracolle colorate e manici in bambù, mini-pochette in pitone rifinite da piccole borchie o maxi-pochette animalier con rouches di pelle, tutti elementi che danno un'impronta glamour ad una borsa da usare tutti i giorni.

IBIZA FASHION EDITORIAL-IBIZA STYLE

 In the late '30s, Ibiza received its first wave of intellectuals and artists who were fleeing from a grey and tense inter-war Europe. Many travellers came to the island, in search of a new horizon for their lives. here they found a paradise where they could live in harmony with the local island people..
The bohemian circles of the Paris of first era may well been the main promoters of the good atmosphere and the freedom that people lived and breathed in Ibiza; this might explain why the majority of the island's first visitors were French. That atmosphere of freedom- unheard of in the rest of Spain-, the geographic location, the climate, the sea, the untouched land and low cost of living made Ibiza and Fomenter an ideal refuge for arists and bohemians, and later on, for the hippies. In '60s and '70s, the pellets roamed freely through the small towns in the north of the island, mixing in with the local people, who were surprised by their way of dressing, their long hair, their music and their way of viewing and living life. For the hippies, Ibiza was a paradise where they were not judged for having a philosophy on life that diverged from traditional minutes. The way they dressed was also their means of expression, their way of showing the rest of the world their independence and their rejection of the establishment and the official norms of the era. Since then, Ibiza has been and continues to be like a muse for an artist, where trendsetters, designers and fashion lovers find their source of inspiration.

LAS DALIAS HIPPY MARKET-IBIZA

For a different night, you must go to Las Dalias Hippy Market: every Saturday all year long, in Sant Carles de Peralta-Ibiza, and during the summer you can catch the Las Dalias Night Market every Monday evening.
 With its hundreds of colourful stalls, characters and live performances, here you can find from the simplest things as fine-haired Kafkian,  classic total-white clothing, hats, necklaces, shells, Ibiza salt, cowboy boots, someone reads the hand, who does the henna, someone else makes ayurvedic massages and you can listen some good live concert. (Amazing the carousel built with recycled materials).
 Las Dalias is not only a place to get a drink, to shop, to eat and to dance. Here you can find the traditional bohemian spirit of Ibiza well preserved despite there are a lot of tourists.
The fashion of Las Dalias comes from the soul, the spirit and the passion for creativity of each of the market's designers and artisans.

OPALINE

My meeting with Opaline world.
Just over a year ago I noticed a blue flowered tunic worn by my mom, the tunic is by Opaline, a line of ethnic clothes and pajamas designed by Ingrun (the Giampaolo's wife, the son of a dear friend of my mother). I know Giampaolo practically since I was born, but I did not seen him for many years, and I never met his wife. Last week in Vienna, in an Hotel Bristol's suite where it took a presentation of the Opaline clothing I've met Ingrun. She's tall, blonde, her Nordic image contrasts with the warm Indian prints that she wearing and that give to her a shabby-chic allure. Ingrudn Von Keudell grew up in India, in a Tamil Nadu Ashram, but she was born in the Bavarian Alps, and its appearance is a mix of these cultures ,that she expresses in its line of clothing Opaline which in Sanskrit means jewel. Warm and bright colors of Rajasthan inspire the prints made with an ancient technique of Jaipur artisans. Dresses, kaftans, pajamas, kimonos, tunics by Opaline can be worn during the day, at night, at the sea, between the dunes of the desert, on the the city's asphalt or between soft sheets of a bed. The Opaline bohemian gipsy- style suits and spreads everywhere.

Poco più di un anno fa noto una tunica a fiori blu indossata da mia mamma, la tunica è di Opaline, una linea di abiti e pigiami etnici che disegna Ingrun (moglie di Giampaolo, figlio di una cara amica di mia mamma). Conosco Giampaolo praticamente da quando sono nata, ma non lo vedo da anni, quindi sua moglie non l'ho mai incontrata. La settimana scorsa a Vienna, in una suite dell'Hotel Bristol dove si teneva una presentazione della linea di abbigliamento Opaline mi viene presentata Ingrun. Alta, bionda, la sua immagine nordica contrasta con le calde stampe indiane che indossa e che le danno un allure shabby-chic. Ingrun Von Keudell in India ci è cresciuta, in un Ashram del Tamil Nadu, ma è nata nelle Alpi Bavaresi, e il suo aspetto è un mix di queste culture che esprime nella sua linea di abbigliamento Opaline, che in Sanscrito significa gioiello. Sono i colori caldi e accesi del Rajasthan ad ispirare le sue stampe realizzate con una tecnica antica da artigiani di Jaipur. Gli abiti, i kaftani, i pigiami, i kimono, le tuniche di Opaline possono essere indossati di giorno, di notte, al mare, tra le dune del deserto, sull'asfalto della città o tra le soffici lenzuola di un letto. Lo stile gipsy- bohémien di Opaline si adatta e si diffonde in ogni luogo.
