A DRESS WORN BY CATHERINE DENEUVE IN 1962 IS THE ORIGINE OF SOME DRESSES
In 2019 it was Emilia Wickstead who took inspiration from the dress with a large bow on the neckline worn by Catherine Deneuve in 1962, making it a yellow silk version. http://www.scostumista.com/2018/10/the-origin-of-dress-with-bow.html
This year also Maria Grazia Chiuri for Christian Dior S / S 2022 collection elaborates an orange georgette silk version of the same dress.

PLAY WITH MISS DIOR
Christian Dior Spring-Summer 2022 collection: In this fashion show of the "new beginning" Maria Grazia Chiuri wanted to emphasize the aspect of the performance and asked the artist Anna Paparatti to set up a set in which to stage a kind of "nonsense game": is a huge game of goose with the models passing from one square to the other. The setting is cheerful, colorful, a little childish. Chiuri is inspired by the Slim Look conceived by Marc Bohan, director of the maison from 1960 to 1989, and perhaps the least known of those who have occupied this role. It was Bohan who introduced prêt-à -porter, who thought of a line for young people, Miss Dior, and who thought in “industrial” terms. He made the maison modern ». Translated: clean lines, short hems, A-line baby-doll dresses, no embroidery, no pastel tones; the looks appear to be made with stripes and squares, the colors are full. “Something graphic and clean, minimal and positive. Because I think we have to give an optimistic outlook to the future” M.Chiuri said.

DIOR CRUISE: THE GREEK PEPLOS ALWAYS INSPIRES
The Greek peplos always inspires.
Four years ago Karl Lagerfel for Chanel's Cruise collection had a reproduction of the Parthenon built at the Grand Palais to show off his peplum dresses.
French fashion house Dior on Thursday returned to live audience shows with a firework-punctuated presentation of its 2022 Cruise collection in Athens at the Panathenaic stadium, site of the first modern Olympic Games.
Pleated and draped, in immaculate chiffon, golden fringes or blue embroidery in reference to the Greek iconography, the models marched through the Panatenaico stadium, complete with fireworks.
"A parade is like a concert, as the theatre (...) the guests are part of the show with us", said Maria Grazia Chiuri, artistic director of the women’s collections of Dior.
Greek artisans whose work was featured in the collection included a tailor and embroiderer from Argos in the Peloponnese, a silk factory in the northeastern town of Soufli, and a maker of fisherman's caps from the port of Piraeus.

The Christian Dior resort S/S 2020 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, which took place a few days ago at the Palais Badi in Marrakech, is a tribute to Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior's creative director during the 1960s, who most of all he loved this city.

THE 70'S YOUTHQUAKE IN DIOR'S NEXT WINTER COLLECTION
Fifty years after the momentum of urgency and creativity that the year 1968 brought, this is an opportunity for Maria Grazia Chiuri to revive an era when the rules of fashion were turned on their head. Indeed, thanks to this emulation which stimulated the emergence of new ideas, creativity for creativity’s sake, the cut-up technique and travel as a means of discovering others but also oneself, youth occupies a place at the centre of the scene.
The Christian Dior Autumn-Winter 18-19 collection is dedicated to the new generations who may one day benefit from the 70's battles and have the same rights as men. Chiuri starts from 1968, an important year not only for society, but also fashion. The youthquake, the youthful earthquake that shook the 70's is reinvented and imagined by Dior's creative director.
For this collection Maria Grazia Chiuri
was guided by these symbols, her fashion instinct guides the designer throughout this return to a singular and incredible time, because changing the world also means changing clothes.
