THE VINTAGE FASHION ARCHIVE OF BRITISH PATHE'

Ieri ho scoperto che la British Pathé, fondata nel 1896,  una fra le più grandi società di media del mondo è stata anche una delle prime società a digitalizzare tutto il suo patrimonio filmico e fotografico.

Il risultato è  sorprendente: un sito dove si possono trovare 90.000 foto e filmati storici di ogni genere, molti ancora inediti, dal discorso di Re Giorgio VI, al disastro del Titanic fino ad arrivare ai primi tour internazionali dei Beatles. In questo archivio meraviglioso, che ha anche un canale youtube, grande spazio è dato alla moda: preziosi filmati muti del 1900,  splendide passerelle degli anni 30-40-50-60-70' Grace Kelly e Audrey Hepburn ancora sconosciute che sfilano per delle case di moda, l'icona Twiggy che firma gli autografi, sono solo alcuni dei filmati che potrete trovare e che vi posto qua. Buon tuffo nella storia della moda!

Yesterday I've discovered that British Pathé, the first and one of the most important media company in the world founded in 1896, it's also one of the firs company that has digitalized all its filmic and photographic heritage. The result is surprising: a site where you can find about 90.000 pictures and historic films, from the king's George VI speech, to the Titanic disaster, until the first international tour of The Beatles. In this wonderful archive, wich has also a youtube channel, a big place has fashion: precious films from 1900, great catwalks from the 30-40-50-60-70ies, the unknown jet

Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn in some defile, the fashion icon Twiggy signing autographs, are only few of the film  footage that you can find. I'll post some here. Have a nice immersion in the fashion history!

 

THE SURREAL WORLD OF QUENTIN SHIH

Quentin Shih is one of the most interesting fashion photagraphers I know. Chinese, 1975 based in Bejiing and New York, his work mainly focuses on people and the relation between them potographed in a surrealistic way, with a special movie tone. Since 2008 Shih has collaborated with Dior which has resulted in several impressive series. His clients include some of the major brands including Nokia and Adidas as well as editorial clients as  Vogue and  GQ. Quentin Shih è uno dei fotografi di moda più interessanti che conosco. Cinese, classe 1975 vive a Beijing e New York, il suo lavoro si concentra sulle persone e sulle relazioni tra loro ritratte in maniera surreale con  speciale un'atmosfera da film. Dal 2008 collabora con Dior per cui ha realizzato diverse serie di foto meravigliose. Ha lavorato anche per Nokia, Adidas e riviste come Vogue e GQ.
