AKA JEWELLERY-MOST MINIMAL DETAILS WITH A MAXIMUM FUNCTION

‘Aka jewellery’ is a studio brand handmade by designer Ausra Bankauskaite. Trained in metal-working and jewelry-design, Ausra Bankauskaite began creating contemporary pieces that bridged the worlds of art object and jewelry. Aware of the dual nature of her designs, Ausra ascribed the abbreviation "aka," "Also Known As" to describe her works. "aka jewelllery" is a studio brand based on two concepts: - structure (the arrangement of and relations between the parts or elements of something complex) and functionality (the quality of being suited to serve a purpose well) which combine to create minimal aesthetic forms. The result is an immaculate, non-iterative design that functions as a body adornment and as an object when not worn, like a small architectural sculpture. Each aka design hand crafted in studio in Brooklyn, NY, not from a mold or mass produced but also quality pieces made for years of wear.

Sybille Paulsen is a jewellery designer with a degree in architecture and a passion for art who transforms her research into manufacturing unique designs. All her pieces are carefully handmade in a labour intensive process that can take days before transforming into a beautiful object to wear. Sibille Paulsen pieces are made with human hair. Strongly connected with her roots, with the details of the daily existence and with nature, her pieces are a mixture of delicacy and strength,fragility and precision, visible and invisible in the tiny details, purity of shapes and romance in content and materials.
 Sybille Paulsen will exhibit her creations and a series of photographic documentation about her work by Libby Edwards Photography from the 5th of May till the 2nd of June in the store in Lychener Strasse 11.

I pezzi di Sibille Paulsen sono fatti con i capelli umani. Strettamente connesse con le sue radici, con i dettagli dell'esistenza quotidiana e con la natura, i suoi pezzi sono una miscela di delicatezza e forza, fragilità e precisione, visibili e invisibili nei piccoli dettagli, nella purezza delle forme e nel romanticismo nei contenuti e nei materiali.
Sybille Paulsen esporrà le sue creazioni e una serie di documentazioni fotografiche sul suo lavoro a cura di Libby Edwards Photography dal 5 maggio al 2 giugno nel negozio di Lychener Strasse 11.
