FASHION PHOTOGRAPHERS:GUY BOURDIN
Guy Bourdin was born in Paris in 1928 and first wanted to be a painter. In 1950 he met Man Ray, and became his protégé.
Bourdin made huge waves in the fashion world with his seductive, provocative, and at times violent imagery, he created images that contained fascinating stories and compositions, he was among the 1st to create images with narratives, telling stories.
During the 1950s, Guy Bourdin launched his career with fashion assignments for Vogue Paris working in B&W, and after he developed color photography to its maximum effect, creating dramatic accents with intense color saturation and textures in his compositions. Bourdin with searingly bright colours, showing clothes as never shown before.
Bourdin's models always seemed younger and more playful, they seemed like happy victims of his camera, and with their very strong make-up and especially vivid lipstick, their appearance was often a pastiche of normal fashionability. They frequently looked like perfectly painted toys.
In 1955, Bourdin took a job at Vogue Paris–a job that he held until 1987–working alongside Helmut Newton. In the late '70s with his shots Bourdin was the promoter and advocate of a radical change in the field of fashion photography and creative imaging. In his career he worked for Vogue and Harper's Bazaar signing many collaborations and campaigns such as those for Charles Jourdan, Issey Miyake, Claude Montana, Chanel and Emanuel Ungaro.
Guy Bourdin influenced many photographers such as Jean Baptiste Mondino, David La Chapelle, Mert and Marcus , Miles Aldridge, Terry Richardson.

FALLING FLOWERS
If nature for every season gives us various types of flowers, so the fashion each season offers us a different type of flowers. This summer, the flowers are large and strong colors, like those of my 40's dress. And if it is a law of nature that the flowers fall and then reborn, on clothes flowers remain firmly, to be worn again after decades.
Se la natura per ogni stagione ci regala vari tipi di fiori, così anche la moda ogni stagione ci propone diverse tipologie di fiori. Quest'estate i fiori sono grandi e i colori forti e decisi, proprio come quelli del mio abito anni '40. E se è una legge di natura che i fiori cadano per poi rinascere, sugli abiti i fiori restano ben saldi, per poi essere indossati nuovamente anche dopo decenni.

40's FLOWERS
Most of the women's fashions during the 1940s were designed with the same squared shoulders, small waist, and skirt above the knee.
Despite the hardships of WWII clothes in the 1940s fabrics with floral prints were very popular. Brown and green dyes were heavily rationed for use in military uniforms. In response, deep maroon, gray, or undyed white or beige fabrics were available for popular use. Less fabric became the way to go. Less buttons, pleats and zippers were used. Women's hemlines were lifted to save on fabric, and their garments kept to a slim cut with little embellishment.
By 1947, after WWII was over, the "New Look" began to replace the wartime utility fashions. This new style embraced femininity, with rounded shoulders, shapely bust lines, closely-defined waistlines, slightly padded skirts, and full, billowing skirts that hung just below the calves.

NEW DESIGNERS:CHRIS GELINAS
Chris Gelinas is a womenswear designer.
He was born in Canada but he based in New York.
Gelinas graduated with a design degree from Parsons School of Design. He refined his technical skills at some of the industry’s most acclaimed fashion houses including Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Balenciaga, and as first assistant to Olivier Theyskens at Theyskens’ Theory.
Gelinas is dedicated to a movement that supports local industry, creating and producing much of his collection in New York with the highest level of skill and craftsmanship. Chris Gelinas rooted in American sportswear but with a focus on construction, finishing and innovative textiles — has been completely self-funded. The designer’s first presentation — which featured sporty separates in techno fabrics, such as a neoprene skirt overlaid with organza — was pulled together in five days for under $2,000. That collection not only won him the Peroni Young Designer Award, but it also attracted an influential fan base.
