Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech

If you are in Marrakech and have couple of hours to spare, then you can visit Jardin Majorelle and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. 

A museum entirely devoted to the work of the legendary fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in Marrakech, Morocco. In association with Pierre Bergé, whom he had met in 1958, Yves Saint Laurent decided to create his own couture house. His first collection was presented on 29th January 1962 at 30 bis Rue Spontini in Paris. The Yves Saint Laurent fashion house remained there for 12 years, during which Yves Saint Laurent invented the modern woman’s wardrobe: the pea-jacket and trench coat in 1962, ‘le smoking’ in 1966, the safari jacket and the first pantsuit in 1967, the first garments using transparent fabrics and the first jumpsuit in 1968. By appropriating male dress codes, he offered women self-assurance, audacity and power while preserving their femininity. Wishing to dress all women, not only rich haute couture clients, Yves Saint Laurent opened his Saint Laurent rive gauche boutique in 1966 in Paris, the first ready-to-wear boutique to bear a couturier’s name, thus paving the way to what has today become the fashion world. 

The museum dedicated to great French couturier is small but beautifully designed and the collection of gowns on display changes from time to time. The architecture, gardens, exhibits are beautifully installed. The museum is definitely worth visiting by those who would like to learn and better understand the achievements of the legendary designer. Lo storico Mercatino del Borghetto Flaminio, un’istituzione da 29 anni, riapre dopo la chiusura estiva Domenica 3 settembre per la gioia dei tanti romani che amano i tradizionali riti domenicali da non perdere. Un animato appuntamento dove, tra una contrattazione e un piccolo affare, espositorie habitué sono ormai diventati amici e dove i visitatori si divertono a cercare insoliti pezzid’epoca contrattando proprio come in un sukmediorientale dall’inconfondibile stile made in Italy. 

 DOMENICA 3 SETTEMBRE si festeggia la riapertura della 29° stagione con il trionfo del vintage. Tra i banchetti, pezzi di qualche decennio fa e abiti e accessori che hanno fatto la storia della modaitaliana e internazionale. Dalle borse, foulard da collo e cinture di Gucci e Hermès d’antan all’effetto trompe-l’oeildei velluti di Roberta di Camerino, dalle scarpe di Prada alle gonne anni Cinquanta di Dior, dalle iconiche camicie bianche di Ferrè alle bluse di seta con il fiocco di Saint Laurent fino allo stile bon ton di Ferragamo. E ancora giacche di Armani anni ’80, impermeabili evergreendi Burberry, vestiti con le stampe coloratedi Emilio Pucci, creazioni di Missoni,Versace e Moschino, le prime baguette di Fendi e i bauli di Vuitton. Non manca la rigatteria d’autore tra cimeli storici e pezzi di modernariato anni Sessanta-Settanta come le mitiche radioBrionvega, i telefoni Cobra e Grillo ecomplementi di arredo Space Age. 

 Il Mercatino del Borghetto Flaminio torna a piazza della Marina 32 con gli appuntamenti dedicati agli appassionati divintage, bric-à-brac, modernariato e antiquariato tutte leDomeniche di Settembre (3-10-17-24) dalle ore 10 alle 19. Nella miscellanea multigenerazionale di espositori, tra i suoi gazebo all’aperto e il padiglione dedicato alla moda al coperto e tantistand pieni di oggetti rari e curiosità si trovano pezzi uniciintrovabili altrove.
